Introduction


Applications are invited for a temporary casual Bus Driver position at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BGCO) at the Ron Kolbus location. This position reports to the Clubhouse Manager.


Schedule: Casual / On-call as required. Hours of work vary depending on business requirements

Position Overview


Responsibilities:

  • Operates the BGCO bus in a safe manner;
  • Transports children to and from the Ron Kolbus Clubhouse from various locations within the city;
  • Conducts daily safety checks of the vehicle ensuring the bus is safe and equipped to operate;
  • Performs the role of bus monitor and assists children on and off the bus, when required;
  • Supervises children, on the bus, ensuring their safety;
  • Cleans and maintains the interior and exterior of the bus; and
  • Performs administrative duties related to bus seating arrangements, emergency contacts, daily log of attendance etc.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Must possess a valid Class F license
  • Clean driving record
  • Knowledge of local streets
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to provide a Police Record Check (vulnerable sector)
  • Current Emergency First Aid/CPR
  • Dependable and reliable
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and within a team environment
  • Genuine interest in working with children and youth
  • HIGH FIVE Certificate is an asset
